Detox Cooking Day 2

It was another delicious day in the kitchen with Doris!

You wouldn’t believe some of the detox-friendly foods we prepared today–> they taste so decadent, they couldn’t possibly be healthy! But they are. ;)

Here’s a peek at Day 2:

Fresh coconut water! (after learning how to shave and open them)

Green juice!

Our lunch: Thai Coconut soup (yum!!), Guacamole Kale salad, and a Green Papaya salad.

Japanese Yam & Coconut cookies!!

Homemade Marinara & Red Pepper Sauces.

Which contributed to my favorite meal of the day:

Pizza!!!!!!! Cauliflower crust & Broccoli crust pizzas, to be exact.

You may remember that I’ve made cauliflower pizza crust before… but it turned out more egg-like, than crust-like. Luckily, Doris taught us the “secret” to making authentic pizza crusts, and now I’m hooked.

I see lots of pizza parties in my future. :D

And more of this Chocolate “Bunny Milk,” too! So chocolate-y, so good.

Steamed Snap Pea Shoots, with lemon and garlic.

Raw Mock-Tuna Salad. I don’t love traditional tuna salad, but I love this version!

Roasted Butternut Squash “croutons.”

“Thanksgiving Dinner.” (The same meal I made last week!)

Caramelized Japanese Yams. (These taste amazing on their own, but we’re using them tomorrow for dessert!)

Have I mentioned that I’m LOVING this weekend so far? When we haven’t been cooking– or driving– we’ve been staying with the lovely Linda Strobeck, a very talented colon hydrotherapist. She couldn’t possibly be more friendly and welcoming!

Who else would have dry body brushes waiting in your room when you arrived? ;)

I was lucky enough to squeeze in an appointment with Linda yesterday, and it was amazing. As crazy as it sounds, East Coast colonics are a totally different experience than West Coast colonics! If you’re ever in the area– and are open to the idea– I highly recommend trying one.

Off to rest up for another day!

Hope you’re all having a great weekend!!

Hi Megan :) It’s so great that you get to learn how to make all these wonderful dishes with Doris Choi! (I’m a little jealous – I admit!) Will you be sharing some of the recipes on your blog or is that a no-no? :)

    • Thanks, Sophie– I definitely feel like a lucky girl. ;) I won’t be sharing any of Doris’s exact recipes, since I do feel like that’s a no-no, but she has been teaching us how to tweak and develop our own recipes, so I will definitely be posting my own variations and some techniques she taught us (like cauliflower pizza crust that works!) when I get back.

Also, Doris has a cookbook coming out this fall which will feature almost all of the recipes that we learned here! I’ve had a sneak-peek, and it looks fabulous!

  • I cannot wait until you get home to show us how to make all of the delicious foods!!! I think you should take at least 1 whole week off from your regular job! :) Happy Sunday!

    Hi Megan,

I just found your blog! I’m so excited by the recipes!!! I just did the Chocolate Cherry Bomb- OMG- in total heaven. What size avocado do you normally use- I’m guessing you follow a paleo lifestyle or something close to it. Thanks for sharing such great recipes. Looking forward to following your blog!
