Six Things Saturday

1. Kansas weather is SO fickle.

It was a nice and sunny 70 degrees on Thursday, but it turned into a full-on snow flurry yesterday.

Just in time for my outdoor run. Super.

2. Yes, I still ran outside. All while seriously missing my beloved treadmill back in LA.

That treadmill makes my life so much better.

It also makes me feel “productive” while watching the Downton Abbey Christmas Special for the 10th time. Seriously.

3. I’m excited to get my hands on Amber’s new book, Practically Raw.

It feels like it was just yesterday when she told me about her book deal! So excited for her. :)

4. Have you heard of the Apple’s iPod nano Replacement Program? I have my Facebook friends to thank for sharing this deal.

I just got a brand-new 6th generation iPod nano in the mail, in exchange for my 1st generation iPod nano– which I hadn’t used in years. (It was truly a miracle I could still find it!)

Um, talk about a good deal. I love the new touch-screen!

5. One of my first priorities while traveling is usually picking up a few groceries at Trader Joe’s–> most importantly, my favorite dark chocolate bars.

Unfortunately, they didn’t have them in stock.

So my mom and I proceeded to pick up every other type of dark chocolate bar they offered. Maybe we’ll find a new favorite!

I think the smaller orange-packaged bars at the top are winning so far. :D

6. Remember how we talked about patience yesterday?

Yeah, I don’t have any of that.

If you’re low on patience, as well, this frosting makes an awesome glaze. (Drizzled over a grain-free cupcake– I like to break it up to get frosting on every bite!)

What are YOU up to this weekend?

Colorado weather is crazy like that too and can change super fast..fortunately, I don’t have to worry about that…I am in Long Beach for the IIN Mega Conference..it’s here! YAY!! I hope you are a temp chocolate replacement…it’s such a bummer when the store is out of your fav! Have a great weekend!

p.s. I would love to get a treadmill sometime in the future..it sounds like you really like yours? Do you fold it up or leave it out? I freakin’ miss Downton Abbey and Travis thinks we should wait to start re-watching it so we don’t get burned out..I don’t think we would:)

Yes, I absolutely love that treadmill. My friend actually bought one first, and after I tried using hers, I needed one myself! It’s really sturdy, runs well, and folds up very easily. It could go under a bed, but Austin and I fold it up against a wall in our office. (Sometimes I just leave it out, too.) After my mom visited us recently, she loved using it and bought one, too!

      Definitely recommend it. :)

P.S. If you’re anything like me, you will not get burned out on Downton Abbey. I’m so sad we have to wait so long to see the 3rd season, but I have no problem watching re-runs until then. LOL

I am going to make raw goat milk kefir. Have you ever tried it? it has more probiotic strains than any supplements on the market. I have real grains from Tibet so I am very happy to try it. And of course sunny day with my family

I can’t believe I still haven’t tried kefir! For some reason, I’m afraid I won’t like the taste. (Even though I do love yogurt!) I will be brave enough to try making it one day. :)

Hope you enjoyed the sunny day!!

If you like yogurt you will like it it is more sour, but if you leave less time it won´t be that sour. You can put stevia in it to make it sweeter. Whe I compare the impact on my digestion with yogurt it is milion times better. I drink it every day either from raw goat milk or raw sheep milk (we have very good sources of sheep milk) I encourage you to try it, but do not mix grains with non dairy milk , when I make with non dairy milk I have separate one. I have read that they will change and won´t multiple.

[...] chose it as their “staff pick” of the week! My blog-buddy Megan, the Detoxinista, also mentioned her excitement at my book’s release this week. [...]

I just found your blog because I was looking for reviews of the Tracy Anderson mini-trampoline workout, and then I saw that you were pro-KU in march madness, and i wanted to see whether you were from kansas (we happen to live in Lawrence, and my husband will have tickets for the final four if KU makes it that far!), and then I found this page and read about the ipod exchange, which is great because I also have a first gen nano, SO don’t ever let anyone tell you that it doesn’t pay to be nosy!

I still don’t know whether you’re from Kansas, though…but thanks so much for the info! rock, chalk, jayhawk…
