What I Ate Wednesday

Yesterday marked the last day of my twenties.

Wow, time flies.

Here’s what I ate before transitioning to the big 3-0!

Morning

-2

I’ve gotten into quite a breakfast rut in the past month or so. I can’t get enough of these green smoothies!

This one contained a frozen banana, fresh spinach, chia seeds, Sunwarrior raw plant protein, cinnamon, vanilla, water and ice.

Lunch

SONY DSC

Lunch was a large romaine salad dressed with a homemade Greek dressing, and topped with red peppers, cucumbers and 4 oz. of raw goat feta.

After eating this kale salad for 5 days in a row, this savory combination was a nice change of pace!

Snack

I picked up an (un-pictured) green juice from Whole Foods, which included carrots, romaine, cucumber, celery, spinach, lemon, lime and ginger. I finished it while I was still shopping!

-1When I got home, I experimented with a new nut-free brownie recipe to enjoy for my birthday– which didn’t turn out as well as I’d hoped, but still tasted good. I just have to get the texture right!

Dinner

SONY DSC

Japanese vegetable curry served over a bed of quinoa. The curry recipe is from my new favorite cookbook, The Fresh Energy Cookbook!

Later, we munched on a few pieces of Mint Dark Chocolate, while catching up on the Season 3 premiere of Downton Abbey. (One of my top 5 favorite shows ever!)

  • Happy 30th birthday!
That curry recipe is one of the few I’m still to try, I must get on to that… Thanks for sharing that incredible sounding kale salad yesterday, that one is also now on my list!

  • Happy Birthday! Hope this year brings you lots of happiness!

    That curry looks so amazing!
This week, I’m eating lots of green smoothies, some cleansing juices, HUGE salads with creamy tahini dressings, local pink lady apples (yummmm) and a lot of Detoxinista inspired eats :)
Side note-I ordered the tahini you use and the Natural Calm magnesium. They both arrived yesterday and 1-me and the boy slept like champs last night and that’s saying a lot because he is one who just doesnt sleep so I’m so glad he got some good, deep sleeping in! and 2-oh. my. word. I thought all tahini tasted the same. It’s just sesame seed “butter” right?! Wrong! That living tree stuff is absolutely amazing!

Thanks for introducing me to your favorite products. They are quickly becoming some of my faves as well! Happy Birthday!

  • happy 3-0! i turned it a few months ago :) it’s not so bad! eats for me have been lacking in the protein department as i have been soup and veggie crazy lately but my energy is starting to droop so i think i’m back on some hearty, protein packed dishes this week.

i love downton too but my fave show is breaking bad!

  • Happy birthday, Megan!
PS – The texture of those brownies looks pretty damn amazing to me. :)

  • Heidi

Happy Birthday Megan!! The brownies look nice and gooey, just how I like them! :) And the curry looks delish, too. Have a glorious day and by the way, YAY for Downton! Love it!!! So excited to have that to look forward to every week again :-)

  • Happy Birthday Megan! I’m with Amber on those brownies!… *drool*

Hi Megan, Happy Birthday from Alaska! I’ve been drinking the same smoothie as you posted here – love it…how much chia do YOU add? I’m curious about the 4 oz. of goat cheese you put on your lunch salads. I happen to LOVE goat cheese, but I find that anything over 2 oz. is overpowering to my taste buds…what kind do you use? Thanks! Crista

  • Happy Birthday Lovely Lady!! I just turned 30 in July and it’s been the best year of my life!! Lots of big, wonderful changes!! Congrats on another fantastic journey around the sun!! xo

  • Happy Birthday! Wow, all your eats are fantastic and I also agree the gooey looking brownies look amazing! I’ve always been a fan of underbaked brownies and cookies whereas my mom likes her baked goods crunchy and dry! Welcome to your 30′s!

  • Happy Big 3-0! I am turning a quarter century this year, it is amazing how time flies. Hope you enjoyed it and the curry looks yummy and I am so not a fan of it!

  • Hi Megan,

I’d love to hear the quantities you used for that smoothie, it sounds great! :) X

  • Jen Bloom

I love this smoothie. How do you think the Sunwarrior protein combines or is it not a big deal? Also wondering if you’d try another fruit or just stick to bananas as they combine best with the almond butter? Happy birthday girl!

    • I feel like the Raw Plant Protein version of Sunwarrior seems to combine well as a nut/seed– definitely better than the brown rice version, in my experience. I usually stick to bananas when I use it, since I do seem to bloat up when mixing it with other fruits. When I want to use different fruits, I find that avocado works as a better base than the protein powder!
