  • […] now!) has been an adventure since breakfast has been a green smoothie almost every day! Casey and Megan have been very helpful with their collection of sugar-free smoothies and I also came up with this […]

    You are the best Megan!!

  • Great site! The beverage recipes looks yummy. Maybe you can look into adding a few juicing recipes as well. It is a very hot subject right now and people’s lives are being transformed by it.

I used to skip breakfast or just pick up a fast food breakfast. But after being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes breakfast really became a problem. I found a protein shake that really works.
    2 Tbs Hemp Seeds
2 Tbs Chia Seeds – soaked overnight but not necessary
    4 pcs Walnuts
    2 pcs Pumpkin seeds- Shelled
    3 pcs Brazil Nuts (selenium)
1 Heaping Tbs Coconum Butter — Artisana – Organic raw Extra Virgin Oil – Medium chain triglycerides, Lauric acid
    2 Tbs Almond butter
    1 Banana
1 Cup Wild Blueberries – or other non-citrus organic fruit
    1 Cup Water filtered
1/2 Cup Almond Milk – unsweened
1 Scope Vegan unflavored protein poweder

Add ingredients to blender and blend until smooth.

Note: I sub 1/2 cup Coconut water and I use a mix of non-citrus fruit. Takes less than 5 minutes.

Where did the chocolate coconut shake recipe go? I just brought home the young coconut and cacao powder ( which I couldn’t really afford) and the recipe has disappeared :(

Hey, Megan! I absolutely LOVE your blog, & try your recipes all the time! Just sayin’ :) I have a food combining question for you. I know fruits need to be eaten alone, but is that the case for shakes & smoothies as well? Can you combine fruits with veggies, & nut milk, in shakes & smoothies & still be properly combining? Thanks!

    • Megan

Nut milks are neutral for our purposes, so they are fine in any smoothie, and so are leafy green vegetables. Bananas are the only fresh fruit that combine with nuts and seeds, but that can vary from person to person, too.
