All Clad Waffle Iron
This is the waffle iron I used most while testing the vegan and gluten-free freezer waffles in my cookbook, No Excuses Detox. It produces consistently crispy results every time, and makes a classic waffle about a 1/2-inch thick, rather than the over-sized Belgian waffles. (I find the thinner ones work better for throwing in the toaster later to reheat.)
Note: The only downside to this waffle iron is that it does have some sort of nonstick surface, which isn’t ideal for those of us looking for 100% non-toxic cookware. As a busy working mom, I appreciate that this waffle iron is automated, cooking my waffles to perfection and then beeping loudly when they are done so I don’t forget about them. But, if you prefer to cook waffles the old-fashioned way, this cast iron waffle iron might be a better fit for you.
