Tuesday Things

1. Did you happen to watch the first night of Hatfields & McCoys?

If you did, I hope you caught Austin dressed up in his Civil War costume. I love this photo from the set in Romania!

2. Speaking of photos, I finally jumped onto the Instagram wagon.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what I’m doing. I don’t know how to follow people, how to comment on photos… nothing.

Please feel free to share some tips!

3. Over the long weekend, I also managed to try a new Bar Method studio.

In fact, I got a little over-ambitious and signed up for classes two days in a row.

Ouch!

My thighs start to shake just thinking about it.

4. Between my post-workout green smoothies and Austin’s Peanut Butter Milkshakes, we’ve been going through a LOT of bananas.

bananas, lemons, red peppers, and avocados in a bowlYou’ll probably find at least 3 bunches ripening on our counter throughout the summer at any given moment, so that we always have ripe ones on hand!

Oddly enough, I used to prefer my bananas with a bit of green at the top, when they are less sweet and starchy. Little did I know that unripened bananas are harder to digest– which is why bananas are often thought of as constipating! Now, I wait until they’re totally covered in brown spots before eating or freezing.

5. If you haven’t noticed yet, my recipes are now easier to print!

I’m still busy updating them (starting with the most recent posts), but soon they should all be easier to print–> without all the step-by-step photos, so you can save ink!

Ooh yay for Instagram! I’m going to search for you – I just got it myself and I think I’ve got the whole like/commenting thing sorted out. Just go to the Home button on the bottom left corner, and you’ll see the recent photos of people you follow. You can click Like or Comment there. And to comment on your own after you take them and click the green check mark, write whatever you want to say in the caption bit, select On for Twitter or Facebook if you want to share them that way automatically, then that’s it!

THANK YOU! I think you just helped me figure out how to follow people!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll try to find you, too!

The Bar Method looks fun! I’ve been wanting to order a barre-type dvd. Maybe this will spur me on.
I had to laugh, because I have two huge bunches of bananas getting all freckly on my counter. If I run out of frozen ones for smoothies, I panic a little!

    Megan

I know that “panicked” feeling well. I hate running out of frozen bananas! ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you decide to try a barre-type DVD workout, I highly recommend the Physique 57 set! I’ve tried them all, it’s far and away the best workout I’ve ever done. The full set comes with a playground ball, which is seriously effective at sculpting your legs: http://amzn.to/KTBAg8

I do the DVDs during the week, and go to Bar Method classes (because they’re more convenient than the P57 studio) on the weekends.

So cool about Austin! His job seems awesome.

My grocery store puts together bags of bananas on special almost every week, it’s usually two or three bunches in a bag, for only 1.49! I always stock up on them so I’ll have enough to freeze for smoothies and banana soft serve and stuff.

This week…well, my job is interviewing for my replacement! And I start grad school tomorrow!

    Megan

Good luck with grad school! That’s so exciting!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Glad to hear about ripe bananas being easier to digest, because I LOVE bananas when they are all spotted and almost brown, which is kind of odd I guess. I can’t wait to get my iphone next month so I can get on the instagram train, it just looks so amusing.

    Megan

How lucky that you naturally like them that way! I had to train myself to get used to the spotted ones– but now I can’t imagine eating a green one again.

The anchor man on the Vancouver (BC Canada) TV station raved about Hatfield/McCoys, and also said the debut broke viewing records @ 13.9 million, WoW!!!
Methinks congratulations are in order! Yaaaay for you guys!

    Megan

Thanks! We’re so excited that it’s doing so well!! ๐Ÿ™‚
