I know how difficult it can be stay on track with all of the temptations this holiday season, so I’ve got the perfect solution for you.
Now that the weather is cooling off, you may not feel inclined to drink as many green smoothies or eat as many raw salads, but that doesn’t mean you can’t help support your body’s natural detoxification system with quick and easy whole food options. I’d like to provide a solution that can help more people at an affordable price, so I’m hoping this online program will do just that.
It’s chock-full of recipes and tips to help you eat well when the temperature drops. You may find it easier to eat well in the summer, when fresh and juicy produce is abundant, but when it’s cold outside and you feel the urge to hibernate, healthy eating can be a bit more challenging.
To help, I’ve included plenty of warming recipes to satisfy your cravings, without derailing your health efforts. In fact, this book features 21 exclusive recipes that can’t be found on the blog, and they’ve all been developed to be comforting and quick to prepare.
Here’s what’s included:
Since this program is completely digital, as a PDF download and website, you can participate from anywhere in the world.
Most importantly, you’ll be enjoying an abundance of whole foods while reaching your goals. No starvation or fasting required! As you all know, I’m not a fan of “quick fix” plans or fasts, because I feel they are often used as a form of procrastination– as a way to avoid making lasting lifestyle changes.
(Drastic diet changes can also lead to binge eating, which can become a bigger problem than you started with.)
It’s far more important to learn how to feed yourself well on a regular basis, so that you can maintain your results after the cleanse is over. No one wants to suffer and restrict their diet for a period of time, just to gain back the weight (or even more) later. It is my hope that this program sets you up to make better choices long after the three weeks are up.
To make this program as accessible as possible, I’ve included plenty of options for vegans, vegetarians, and meat-eaters alike. All of the recipes are gluten-free and added-sugar-free, and there are lots of grain-free Paleo options, too. There’s something here for everyone!

Wishing you a very healthy and happy holiday season!
Let me start by saying thank you for an amazing website.
This book sounds great. I live in Sweden, is it possible to order the book even outside of the states?
Yes, it’s a PDF download, so there’s no shipping involved. As long as you can download a file from the internet, you can participate!
I agree with Susanne your website has been super beneficial. The book looks just as good. Perfect for the new year as I try to be a “new man.” 🙂
so excited for this!! Does it include options for breakfast, lunch and dinner? Or is it 21 meal recipes?
Yes, there are 21 days of meal ideas, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and optional snacks, on top of the 21 recipes included in the book!
will it accomodate vegetarians?
Yes! All of the recipes are vegetarian, with the exception of one fish recipe. Most of the recipes are actually vegan, with options for meat eaters to add animal protein, if desired, throughout the program.
thank you , that’s what I needed to keep myself healthy this winter..
Once the program is purchased can it be accessed on different computers?
Yes, the PDF is yours to keep once you download it! You can transfer it to any computer you like as you would any other file.
Would love to eat like you do. Yummy and healthy.
Hey! This sounds so great. I am wondering if there will be suggestions for more exotic ingredient replacements. I live in an area whee many organic ingredients and supplies can be hard to come by and sometimes not even available to buy and ship here online, like different oils and butters and sugars. Thank you!
Just posted below about budget, there aren´t many ingredients I would call exotic, I live in Mexico and struggle to find stuff too so I understand. The only things that I don’t think I can find here is nutritional yeast, hemp protein and buckwheat groats. Other things are chia seeds, coconut oil, quinoa but most recipes can be subbed with what you can find (except chia seeds)
There are no refined sugars, no butters and only coconut oil used for frying.
Is it possible to participate if you are on an extremely limited budget? a sample shopping list would be a great help for me to decide if I can afford to participate.
I have just downloaded the book and I think you definitely can. The most expensive thing is chia seeds (which you can just change that meal), coconut oil (which you can use a normal oil if you can’t afford it but only uses small amount for frying), goat’s cheese (which you can skip) and also a few nut/nut butters but most meals can be changed to what will suit your budget.
I don’t think a shopping list would work too well as it depends on your choices for that week and a lot is what you would already have in your house like spices etc. Very vegetable based and whole food, you will be buying lots of veggies!!
Hope this helps 🙂
Thank you! I am so excited for this! I love your website and have been using your recipes for my family ever since I was told about it! I especially want to say thank because you have made cooking healthy for my toddler fun and easy!!! Happy New Year to you!
Aw, thanks! My toddler tested all of these new recipes for me and loved them, so I hope yours does, too!
I love your site. Thanks so much for sharing your recipes and ideas. Thank you for Warm and Cozy!
This looks amazing. Can nursing moms use these detox recipes?
Yes, it is a gentle detox– you’re eating whole foods the entire time, so it should be perfectly safe. I’m still a nursing mom, too, and I’ve been eating these recipes all month long!
Thanks so much Meagan! I can’t wait to try all your recipes!!!
Happy New Year!!
Thanks for more recipes and a way to support your blog since we get so many free ones too! I can´t wait for your book hopefully we can get international postage!
Just wondering if anyone knows of a similar site/recipe book but with everything in spanish? I have a spanish lady cook for me and would love to follow the detox more but struggle to find recipes in spanish and don’t have the time to translate everything. I will never stop following detoxinista but would love to be able to stick to yummy recipes everyday!
Thanks
in LOVE with this book, so simple and easy to follow! thank you! and came just at the perfect time! I was wondering though, I just finished reading the e-book, do you have some sort of easy or go-to grocery list that we can follow? the 3 weeks have such yummy recipes but I feel like I am all over the place with my shopping list to prepare for it and not sure if there’s an easier way to go about it? thank you!
Hi Carolina,
I didn’t include a shopping list because I have a feeling that most people will not follow the meal plan exactly. I wanted to provide lots of variety and ideas, so no two weeks are the same, but that’s not necessarily realistic for many households– particularly those who are only cooking for one or two people. For example, you may want to make a big batch of Southwestern Butternut Soup for dinner, and then enjoy it for lunch two days in a row, which would mean you don’t need to buy ingredients for the lunch ideas I’ve shared on those following two days. I hope that makes sense!
To make things easier for your shopping list, I’d pick 3 or 4 recipes to make for the week and shop for just those ingredients, along with plenty of leafy greens for salads, vegetable toppings, and goat cheese (and meat or fish, if you choose to include that). I like to keep certain fridge and pantry staples on hand at all times, like almond butter, dates, chia seeds, garlic, ginger, raw apple cider vinegar, coconut oil, olive oil, sea salt, etc., so once you have those basics, you’ll only need to shop for the recipes you plan on making that week!
Thanks! Love this! Would love to know if the recipes are all single vs. multiple servings. I don’t really have time to make each meal every day so I love to make everything ahead and not have to worry about it. If they recipes are easily doubled, tripled, etc. and then refrigerated/frozen well, that helps, too. Thanks again!
The recipes vary– most of the breakfast recipes are single serving (like smoothies and porridge) but I’ve made notes that some can be easily multiplied and made in advance. Recipes for things like soups and veggie-based stuffing make enough to serve 4-6 people as written. Now that I’m a mom, I make lots of things ahead of time, so many of these recipes should keep well for the week!
Thank you SO much Megan. I really appreciate the response 🙂
I just purchased your Winter Detox and am looking forward to trying so many of the recipes! I have always wanted to ask about Medjool dates. I have never tried them and have seen them for sale in my local Costco (that may have been a seasonal thing as that was back in the summer). Hopefully I can find them! If I do, I am wondering about storage and longevity. Are they best stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator? How long do they last before spoiling? Any other helpful advice you can offer about Medjool dates would be much appreciated! Thanks Megan and all the best to you in the new year!
Since they sell dates at room temperature, I think they are fine to store at room temperature, as well. They tend to stay softer that way, though if you don’t think you’ll use them up very quickly, they store well in the fridge, too. I think they should keep well for at least two weeks, maybe more!
Thank you SO much! can’t wait to get started! 🙂 Happy New Year
I live in Central Europe and it often occurs that I can’t find some of the ingredients here in the local stores, or we hardly use some of them e.g. maple syrup. I definitely want to buy your Winter Detox book but may I ask you to write me whether it contains a lot of “unusual” material? If yes, how to substitute them and with what else?
Otherwise thank you so much for your zealous work on your website. I use your recipes a lot.
There’s no maple syrup or honey in this program (no added sugars), so the only thing I can think of that would be unusual might be the chia seeds, hemp hearts, coconut milk, and maybe dates or goat cheese, if those are difficult to find. Only a handful of the recipes call for those ingredients, so you’ll mostly need just vegetables!
Thanks Meghan! I always love your recipes. I’ve downloaded the e-book and am looking forward to getting back on track after an indulgent holiday season. Happy New Year!
I just downloaded the book, I can’t wait to start!!
Just a follow up, I tried the Winter Dream Shake today and it was wonderful! It kep me full all morning. Thanks so much for the recipes and this was well worth the money.
That’s great to hear, Kayla! Thanks for the feedback and I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it so far!
Hi Megan,
I’m so excited about your new book! I have told tons of family and friends about it. I’m on your blog daily and really appreciate all the hard work it must take for you to share all these free recipes!! Looking forward to your cook book as we’ll!
Re: Sue, you cannot buy thee book and then share it with your daughters. That would be like buying a hard copy book and simply copying it for people so they don’t have to buy it. Support a blogger who offers free recipes almost daily and purchase a copy for your daughters.
I seriously just feel like you read my mind. My inner dialogue for the past week has been,
“I need to detox. yesterday.”
“I dont want to juice a ton. I’m cold.”
“I’m cold, and don’t want to eat salad every meal.”
“Can I detox eating squash? Or something warm? Regular cleanses are just so… Cold.”
“I’m cold.”
Did I mention I am cold? lol
Michelle, that is EXACTLY what I was thinking, LOL! (Plus, I don’t even have a juicer, haha).
Hi Megan,
Will this download work on my iPad, or should I download it to a laptop?
Thanks,
H.
Download to a laptop first, then you can transfer it to any mobile device you like!
Megan,
I’m starting today and I was wondering if you have a gluten free bread recommendation. I noticed the Udi’s brand puts cane sugar and molasses in their ancient grain millet-chia bread. Specifically, I’m noting the Monday morning option of mashed avocado on gluten free bread. It just sounds good but I didn’t want to risk adding sugar when there is a better option.
Food For Life makes some great options: http://www.foodforlife.com/sprouted-for-life-bread
I can usually find them at my local Whole Foods, so hopefully they’ll be easy for you to find, too!
This looks awesome Meagan! So perfect for me right now. I am freezing right now and would love a soup to warm me up while I work on detoxing from some major cookie splurges from the holidays.
How long do the meals typically take? I am a full time working mom and I have very limited time.
I’d say they’re 30 minutes or less. I’m a full time working mom, too, so nothing I make takes that long! (I think the exception would be for soups, which need to simmer, but then you’ll have leftovers, too!)
Hi Megan! I am leading a nutrition and fitness program at the Pilates Studio where I work and I would like to use your winter detox. Is it possible to buy at a group rate so each of the members can have these materials at a discount? Or can you give me permission to share the materials?
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Julie
That sounds wonderful, Julie! I’d be happy to offer you a group rate. How many people will be participating?
Love your site and really excited about the idea of this book! Great to know the recipes in the detox are vegetarian. I’m also allergic to gluten and corn, and have a sensitivity to most grains so can’t eat them in large amounts. Do you think I would be able to utilize the book okay?
All of the recipes are gluten-free and corn-free. Only a couple of the recipes in this e-book call for grains at all, and they can be easily avoided if you’d prefer to skip them!
Hi Megan,
I just purchased your detox and I can’t wait to start it! Bananas are probably the only fruit that I don’t like. What would you suggest as a substitute for bananas in your recipes, such as the chia seed pudding, buckwheat porridge or as a snack? Thanks
Are a certain percentage of these recipes constructed with proper food combining principles in mind? I am looking to give my digestive system a much needed break after the holidays.
All of the recipes in this e-book are properly combined, with the exception of one that has a couple of “optional” toppings that would make it miscombined– but if you skip the optional toppings, then 100% of the recipes are properly combined.
Thanks! I will be ordering it for sure. So grateful for you! It is refreshing to have found a site that is well organized and thorough. Recently I read a book that was so frustrating…..typos throughout, recipes that had ingredients in the directions, but not in the list so I did not know quantities, overlapping sentences, etc… I wondered how someone could have taken the time to collect all the data and had so much knowledge, but did not have the good sense to have the book proofread properly. Every recipe of yours is detailed and the printable version is so inclusive. Yes!…a breathe of fresh air. Thank you again and again. Please keep up the good work!
Hi Megan! I’m gearing up to ease my way into this detox – I purchased it early on after its availability via your website but have only just now settled into my work routine and fitness schedule after the holidays. I love that from the very beginning, the book encourages gentle adjustments and does not promote portion restriction or starvation.
I’m looking forward to the impact of removing artificial sweeteners from my diet, if only for a limited time. I’ve suspected that their presence in my diet could be evoking an insulin response that is all the more damaging to my hormonal balance given that there is actually no sugar present to combat. I’ve already cut out almost all refined sugar almost six months ago (and don’t miss it at all) but I will miss some of my honey and maple syrup. Glad to see dates and raisins are still on the menu!
I’m most interested in the principles of food combining as I have had a lot of digestive “sluggishness” lately (for lack of a better term). I understand the basic theories about rates of digestion and the interplay of hormones and enzymes dependent on the food consumed by I’m curious as to why so many of our best-loved meals are so MIS-combined: crackers and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, pepperoni pizza with cheese, macaroni and cheese (can you tell I have a thing for cheese?), deli meat sandwiches, hamburgers and fries, butter chicken and naan or basmati rice, spaghetti and meatballs, Koreean fried fish and white rice – obviously the eating pattern of combining animal protein and grains spans many cultures – it’s even Biblical (loaves and fishes)! Why would humans around the world be so drawn to making combinations that don’t work for our bodies?
Curious to hear your thoughts on the above and excitd to report my results in a month or so!
Hi Lauren!
I hope you’re enjoying the program so far. In regards to the popular miscombined meals, my best guess is that grains are included in so many favorites because they are cheap and abundant! (They also tend to be addictive, which could also explain why they are included so frequently.) I feel like grains are added to many traditional meals as a filler, because other ingredients, like animal protein, can be harder to come by– especially depending on time and location throughout history. The human body is highly adaptable, which explains why so many of us have been able to survive in spite of our junk food culture, but just because a lot of people happen to eat a certain way doesn’t mean it’s the right way for humans to eat.
That being said, I don’t think food combining is as important for some people as it is for others. I think it tends to be more important for people with a history of poor diet and lifestyle choices. For example, I grew up on a diet of super-sized extra value meals for the first 25 years of my life, so I feel like it’s more important to give my digestion a chance to catch-up now, by eating properly combined meals, so that I can recover from the damage I put my body through. On the other hand, my one-year-old son has been fed an exclusively whole foods diet, so I don’t worry about food combining for him at all, since his digestion is likely strong and running smoothly.
Hi Megan,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write me a detailed, thoughtful and articulate reply. I think you’re right on many points. The human body is an amazing machine (organism) for its ability to function well on a poor diet. It would be amazing if our vehicles could perform as well and as long as our bodies do if we tried to use fuel at a low enough grade to correspond with the quality of some current diets.
I also agree with the idea that food combining is not as important for all people, or at least not all of the time for all people. I’m going to put it in my arsenal as a strategy for healing after a digestive upset such as an illness or out of the ordinary food choices (either poor quality food, aka junk food, or un-habitual food choices such as while on vacation). I didn’t even realize my digestion was suboptimal until I consulted with a naturopathic doctor on another matter and we started discussing stools (I think only naturopaths, holistic nutritionists and their devotees and parents of small children can truly understand the power of poop – haha). I learned its a great bellwether for health, along with skin, hair and nail condition and even the whiteness of the whites of the eyes!
Yours in health and wellness,
-Lauren
Hi Megan! Love your site, been a huge fan forever, I want to buy this pdf, but first is there anyway you can send people who did you 21 day detox about a year and half ago, the pdf? I have emailed a few times and I got my google drive hacked and lost it 🙁 And I would love to have it for recipes and tricks that you taught us 🙂
You can email me directly to check that I purchased it. Stay well!
Best,
Donna
Thanks again for putting this detox together! I enjoyed many recipes from it! I have been seeing acupuncturist as well as Chinese herbalist for some time now to optimize fertility. Both suggested to eat more warm foods and avoid fresh fruits and vegetables. Just curious if your decision to create this warm detox had something to do with TCM’s philosophy that eating warm foods is more beneficial for you? What’s your opinion on eating cold vs warm foods? Hope to hear from you. Thank you!
Hi Natallia,
I’m not Megan but I wanted to chime in because I also consulted with a naturopathic doctor and a Chinese acupuncturist in the hopes of optimizing my fertility (as an aside, I conceived my first child less than three months into the treatments, but I don’t mean to suggest that you will have the same results or for you to think that it’s not a good strategy if it does not bring you the desired results as quickly). Achieving balance across all of the body’s systems (especially the endocrine system, so closely linked to appetite and digestion and also ovulation) is a great thing and I hope you will experience broad health benefits across the spectrum as part of your journey, either before or after you conceive.
I’m currently living in Asia (South Korea) and hot or warm drinks and meals are very much a part of the culture. Every water “cooler” I’ve seen also has a hot water spigot to dispense boiling hot water for making teas (all kinds imaginable!). I hope you will find eating warm meals less jarring/disruptive to your system, allowing things to heal and flow smoothly. I even removed all piercings (earrings, etc.) so as not to disrupt the flow of energy through my body with a foreign object – not sure if that’s been part of the TCM you’ve discussed but my acupuncturist was adamant. 🙂
Best of luck to you in your wellness and fertility journey. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend that you pick up “Taking Charge of Your Fertility” by Toni Wescbler (Megan, I hope it’s okay to mention this book in your site – I’m in no way affiliated with the author or the book, but personally found it to be a fantastic resource and it was recommended to me in a discussion board in the Internet – paying it forward!).
Cheers,
-Lauren
I have loved this program provided. I have learned so much, lost weight and really changed my eating habits. Thank you so much! I hope you can find the time to come up with a detox for each season! 😉
Just touching base to report that I made the Curried Cabbage from the Warm and Cozy Winter Detox this week and my husband and I were suitably impressed. It’s a fast and delicious week-night meal and it made enough for us to enjoy over the course of three evenings, I simmered some pre-cooked chicken in the coconut milk curry sauce to amp up the protein for my carnivorous husband and added a handful of raisins for myself (I think currants would work well, too). We didn’t have any tamari on hand but a few pinches of garam masala brought a beautiful warmth and depth to the flavour profile – I highly recommend it!
hello, Megan. thank you so much for the great recipes . Can I go ahead (and order) and use the winter detox program for spring or should i just wait for your book.
thanks 🙂
Joy
Hi Joy!
I still use a lot of these recipes in the Winter Detox e-book myself, so I think it’s a great tool to have if you’d like to have a collection of more healthy cooked meal ideas in your arsenal! And none of the recipes in this e-book are in my cookbook, so there’s no overlap if you end up getting both of them. Hope you enjoy!
We’re on the brink of summer here in central CA, and I know your much anticipated cookbook releases In June, so Ive decided to go ahead and put myself (and hopefully family) on this winter detox, I am so tired of being addicted to sugar…the refined stuff, it is evil! I’m hoping it wont make me too warm and cozy, since the flip flops are already in season, but I just need a detailed plan of buy this, make this, eat this…so thank you so much for the time and effort you put into this detox. and my treat for completing will be to buy your book and keep at it!
Hello!
Would this detox be okay for me if I am pregnant?
Thanks!
It’s a whole food detox– no juice fasting and no restricting calories– so as long as you don’t do anything against your doctor’s recommendations, I think upgrading your food choices the way this program encourages you to do is totally fine.
Hi! This program sounds amazing! Do you feel that there are enough quick, simple options for someone who is traveling a lot? I go from city to city, state to state and do my best to stay somewhere that has a kitchenette to make my own food, but not always the case. Also, more expensive ingredients…as long as they are dry I can pack them, if not I have to dump them when I board the plane.
Yes, I think we could work on some good travel options for you in the members forum! There aren’t any rules like “you have to drink a smoothie for breakfast” so I think this program would totally be flexible enough for you to follow while traveling– and since you do it so often, I think it would be pretty important to figure out some easy healthy options!
Hi Megan!
I was wondering if this detox can be accommodated for people that are sensitive to FODMAPs? I stay away from very often used ingredients like onions, garlic, apples, cauliflower, etc. I really want to participate but I find many good plans difficult to following with a FODMAP sensitivity. I love your website BTW!!!
Sincerely,
Megan
The program is not set up with FODMAPS in mind, but if you’re willing to work on it in the forum, that’s definitely something we could tackle! I don’t think the list is too bad of foods you need to avoid; you’re mostly sacrificing some flavor by leaving out onions and garlic from recipes, and you can swap out the fruits and veggies as needed.
Hi Meghan, is this the same 21 day detox as last winter? Or is it all new recipes?
It’s the same e-book, so the same recipes. But, this year I created a separate website for the forum (so no Facebook group) and I’ll be adding to the program regularly with audio recordings, extra cheat sheets, and hopefully some new recipes, too. The new fee includes a lifetime membership, so you’ll get any bonuses I add to the program each year at no extra cost, in addition to the private forum where you can ask questions. (Past members do get a discount since they bought the e-book last year– email me for those details.)
HI Megan,
I subscribed for the winter detox. I was wondering if there is any substitute for the hemp seeds/powder? (there is none where I live as it is kinda forbidden here it seems…)
I also wanted to know where is the blog?
Thanks
Hi Delphine! What email address did you use to pay for the program? I don’t have the one that you’re using on file so that may be why you haven’t gotten the email about the forum yet. You can email me at detoxinista@gmail.com if you don’t want to share it in the comments.
Sorry I meant to say the ‘forum’ and not the blog…
thanks
I love your reicpes! I ordered the Winter Detox but now can’t find it to access the information. It is not longer in my e-mails or deleted list. Is there a way to access the information I purchased?
Hi Dana– I can look up your receipt. Could you let me know which email address you used for the Paypal checkout? You can email me at detoxinista@gmail.com to keep your info private. 🙂
Hi Megan! The detox program is awesome. Unfortunately I have misplaced my email re: online support forum…. How can I access this? Thanks!
Erin
Hi Megan,
When will you be starting your next detox group?
Thanks,
Sarah
I will open up registration again next week before Thanksgiving, and then the next round will begin Monday November 30th!
Hey there, I am considering the Cozy winter Detox. Can you please answer 2 questions?
1) Will the veggies be mostly “in season” veggies? I live in Northern CA so we have a lot of access to veggies but I like to eat in season foods as much as possible.
2) If I go on this detox, then my family by default will also be doing it w me. Are your meals appropriate for a family of 3 (me, my husband, and our toddler).
Thanks!
Hi Monique! To answer your questions:
1) I developed these recipes last winter, so most of them do call for “in season” vegetables like sweet potatoes, squash, brussels sprouts, and durable cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage. To show the kind of variety you can eat, I do include other ideas that might include zucchini or peppers, but those can be easily switched out for other options in the plan if you prefer.
2) I don’t cook separate meals for my family, so yes I think they can definitely accommodate your family. Each recipe includes the serving sizes, so you’ll know if it will make enough or if you need to double a recipe.
Just purchased the Winter Detox. I was eating healthy until the holidays. My body sure is feeling the affects of all the sugar and carbs. Can’t wait to get started because I already love recipes from your website and book. Thanks so much for sharing what you learn!
Is there an email; which I could contact you? I’ve just launched my new brand: From Soup to Nuts for Seniors and have always admired your clean-cut design on your website…Thanks in advance for any insight that you might be able to share!
