You'll love this homemade Pink Drink made without refined sugar. It tastes like the popular Starbucks strawberry drink, but better, with just a few simple ingredients. Once you try it, you probably won't ever want the store-bought version again, so your wallet and taste buds will thank you!
To brew the tea, pour 2 cups of boiling water over a Passion tea bag in a heat-safe mug. Let it steep for 3 to 4 minutes, then remove the tea bag. (Alternatively you can use green or black tea, instead.)
Combine 1 ½ cups of brewed tea, white grape juice, strawberries, and coconut milk in a high-speed blender. Secure the lid and blend until the strawberries are mostly pulverized. It's okay if a few pieces are floating around in the drink. Add a scoop (2 tablespoons) of unflavored collagen peptides for a creamier version that tastes more authentic. This gives the drink the same "Jello" like flavor that the Starbucks version has.
Taste the pink drink and make any adjustments, if needed. For a less-sweet drink, add more tea or plain water. For a sweeter drink, you can add a splash of maple syrup or extra grape juice. Serve over ice and garnish with extra strawberry slices for a Starbucks-like experience.
Leftover drink can be stored in a tightly sealed jar in the fridge for up to 5 days. It may separate when stored, so shake well before serving over ice again.
Notes
Nutrition information is for roughly 1 cup of pink drink, assuming you get 4 cups total from this recipe. When served over ice, it should fill a 16-ounce cup.• Tea Note: Tazo Passion tea is something my family brews all summer long (for caffeine-free iced tea), so I'm confident you'll use this up if you buy it. If you prefer a caffeinated drink, use green or black tea instead. According to the Mayo clinic 8 ounces of green tea has 29 mg of caffeine, and black tea has 48 mg.• White Grape Juice Note: Feel free to experiment with other juice varieties in this recipe. If you prefer to use 100% juice like I do, check the label. Ocean Spray's White Cran + Strawberry juice has water and sugar listed before any juices on the label. (Ingredient labels are always listed in order of quantity, meaning there's more water and sugar than juice.)• Coconut Milk Note: This recipe uses full-fat canned coconut milk. For the creamiest results, stir well (or blend it) before measuring. Use the rest of the can in a recipe like Panang Curry or Coconut Chicken Curry. Either recipe won't miss the 2 tablespoons of coconut milk.
