This London Fog drink tastes like something you could buy from a coffee shop, but it's not made in the traditional way. Instead of using milk and sugar, this recipe is fruit-sweetened and dairy-free. It comes together quickly in a blender for a fast morning beverage. Once you taste it, you'll be hooked!
Prepare the Earl Grey tea by pouring 8 to 12 ounces of boiling water over the tea bags in a mug. I like to use 2 tea bags (or a big scoop of loose leaf tea) for an extra-strong tea flavor, but you can use just 1 bag if you prefer a more mild drink. Cover the mug with a tea saucer, to lock in the heat as it steeps.
After the tea has brewed for 3 to 5 minutes, remove the tea bags and pour the hot tea into a blender. Add in the dates and almond butter, then blend until very smooth and creamy.
If you have a powerful blender, like a Vitamix, you can pour the mixture directly into your mug and drink it right away, as the dates should be totally pulverized. If you are using a regular blender, I recommend holding a fine mesh strainer over your mug as you pour the blended mixture into your cup, so the strainer will catch any stray pieces of dates. (You don't want chunks in your drink!)
Serve the hot tea latte right away and enjoy.

Notes
Nutrition information is for the whole batch. Depending on how much water you use, you should get an 8 to 16 ounce drink from this batch. Keep Your Drink Hot: I brew my tea in a travel mug like this one (affiliate link) to keep the tea as hot as possible before blending. Brewing Loose Leaf Tea: I originally shared this recipe years ago when we used tea bags, but we've switched to using loose leaf tea now. If you want to get started, you'll need a stainless steel brewing basket and loose leaf tea like this. Sometimes I make this recipe with up to 16 ounces of boiled water, so feel free to experiment with it!
