I feel like salads are often overlooked at the Thanksgiving table.

Which is why you need a delicious dressing like this one!

Featuring freshly squeezed orange juice, this salad dressing is sure to brighten up any holiday feast. Oranges are abundant at this time of the year, making this the perfect time to take advantage of their sweet citrus flavor.

Paired with a touch of raw apple cider vinegar, this dressing may actually help you digest the rest of your holiday meal a little easier, too!

Sweet Orange Vinaigrette
makes about 1 cup

Adapted from this recipe

Ingredients:

One large orange
2 Tablespoons raw apple cider vinegar
2 Tablespoons honey, or stevia to taste
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Directions:

Use a microplane, or grater, to zest the orange, making sure to grate only the orange rind and not the white pith, which can be bitter. Once the zest has been removed, juice the orange using a citrus press or reamer.

Combine the fresh orange juice, zest, apple cider vinegar, garlic, honey and salt in a high-speed blender, and blend until smooth. Add in the olive oil, and blend again until completely emulsified.

Reader Feedback: What’s your favorite salad to serve at holiday meals? We usually opt for some sort of balsamic vinaigrette, but I’m excited to serve an orange variation this year! Since I didn’t add any ginger, I think even Austin will enjoy it.

  1. I had one similar to this that had sesame seeds, sesame oil, and tamari in. Instead of the seeds I used a bit of tahini. It was a nice flavor.

  2. I have some dried cranberries that I was thinking of trying to somehow flavor a vinaigrette with. Is this possible? I have pears, mixed greens, feta cheese and walnuts and the sweetest dressing I have is French. I also have access to pineapple, orange, lime and lemon juice. I have white wine, sherry, balsamic and plain vinegar. Any suggestions that don’t involve a trip back to the store would be great. Thanks!

  3. Megan-
I made this dressing for the salad at Thanksgiving dinner and it was a huge hit! I will definitely be making this in the future. So delicious! Thanks for the recipe 🙂

  4. I make a great dressing reminiscent of this but sub the honey for maple syrup, the vinegar for lime juice and use no oil. So good Will be posting soon 🙂

Love to you and happy thanksgiving Megan! xx

  5. yumm this looks good, i always use some sort of balsamic this would be a nice addition to change it up and i have made that mistake of putting the white part in too when makes a salad recipe and it was horrible lol
