I love it when something healthy tastes absolutely decadent.

chocolate covered strawberry shake in a glass

This shake is brimming with vitamins and nutrients, but all you’ll taste is the sweet and rich flavor of a chocolate covered strawberry–> in the form of a milkshake.

Featuring a frozen banana and strawberries for an ice-cream-like texture, plus a bit of avocado for added creaminess, this shake is something you can indulge in daily, without any guilt! I always sneak a handful or two of leafy greens in my smoothies and shakes, but no one will ever know, thanks to the sweet strawberries and rich cocoa powder.

It’s no wonder that I’ve enjoyed this shake nearly every day this week!

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 heaping tablespoons raw cacao powder

Then, add in the frozen fruit, vanilla and cocoa, and blend again until completely smooth.

  1. Wow – a shake that tastes so delicious and contains so many great ingredients! Thank you – Just made this for my dinner tonight and I am thoroughly enjoying it and all your recipes that I have (including your cookbook!)

  2. OK, what am I doing wrong? I followed this to the letter and the result was absolutely horrible! I mournfully dumped it down the drain….and avocados are such a huge part of my diet I can’t believe I just dumped one down the drain. But this tasted just awful and all the stevia in the world wouldn’t have saved it. It was also extremely watery. I can’t use almond milk as I am allergic to almonds but I used water instead. I used the Stevia brand recommended on this blog. I have a brand new Vitamix. I tried the Orange Julius shake too and that one came out good, so I don’t know. This did not turn out for me.

    1. I’m sorry you didn’t care for this one! With a whole frozen banana and a cup of frozen strawberries, this smoothie shouldn’t be watery, and the sweetness would depend on the ripeness of your banana. Did it have lots of spots on the peel before you froze it? The more spots, the sweeter the banana. How much stevia did you add? Did you make any other modifications to the recipe?

I’m glad to hear the Orange Julius worked well for you!

      1. Oh, this comment was supposed to be posted in the chico-cado shake section. My strawberry smoothie did come out nice and thick, but it didn’t taste like a chocolate covered strawberry. I couldn’t taste the berries at all, maybe because they were frozen? Anyway, it was my chcoc-cado shake that came out disastrously watery.
