Like most kids, my son LOVES Elmo.
I grew up watching Sesame Street as well, and to this day, I still can’t make a batch of cookies without singing to myself, “C is for cookie, that’s good enough for me, yeah!” Talk about a show that sticks with you.
To help my son enjoy his smoothies even more, it’s fun to make his smoothie bowls with a familiar-looking face on top. At least, I hope he looks familiar… my food crafting skills might still need some work!
These smoothie bowls are such a fun way to get your kids to enjoy a healthy breakfast, without relying on sugary breakfast cereals. What Sesame Street fan can resist a treat with Elmo’s face on it?

Elmo Smoothie Bowls
Makes 2
Ingredients:
1 batch Blueberry Mango Smoothie (recipe below)
10-12 large strawberries, thinly sliced
1 small apple, sliced into thin circles
1 clementine, peeled and sliced in half
4 raisins
Blueberry Mango Smoothie:
1 cup water, plus more if needed for blending
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup frozen mango
3 Medjool dates, pitted
1/4 avocado
Directions:
Prepare the smoothie by blending the ingredients together in a high-speed blender. You want the smoothie to be pretty thick, so it can be eaten with a spoon, but if your blender can’t break down the fruit, you can add a little more water to help it along.
Divide the smoothie between two bowls, then start arranging the strawberry slices around the edge of each bowl. You want the dark blueberry smoothie to form Elmo’s “smile,” so after you’ve lined the edge of the bowl with strawberries, make a line of strawberries across the middle of the bowl to create his upper lip.
Place two round apple slices at the top of the bowl to create Elmo’s eyes, and then arrange half of a small clementine underneath the “eyes” to create his nose. Place a raisin in the middle of each apple slice to give him pupils. Then serve with a spoon!
I hope you and your family enjoy these smoothie bowls as much as we have. An added perk of eating your smoothies with a spoon is that it slows you down– and research has shown that enjoying your smoothies slowly will leave you more satiated later. Perfect for kids who need to get through a school day!
My son’s first birthday was Sesame Street themed. That was 1983.

My memory – sitting with my children when they were little singing 1-10 in Spanish!! I still sing that song when I need to know a number in Spanish! LOL
The Martians, Twiddle Bugs & Lady Bugs’ Picnic
I loved Snuffalupagus and would watch hoping he would be on… I thought he was magical and I was fascinated with his eyelashes!
Basically all things Cookie Monster. I LOVED Cookie Monster. But Oscar the Grouch was pretty special too. A complex and well thought out character!
Oh, wupps, I’m Canadian, not eligible, I’ll leave my comment anyway. 🙂
Ernie singing “Rubber Ducky” is a favorite memory. I even had a little 45 record with the song that I’d play over and over.
Oops! I forgot one:
“A loaf of bread, a container of milk and a stick of butter.”
This was my absolute favorite.
Loved when Cookie Monster would cram cookies down his mouth! and say cooookiiiie!monster! Thnx for chance!
I just remember Big Bird being a beacon of sunshine! Such a cheery way to brighten the day!
My favorite Sesame Street memory is of Cookie Monster climbing out of the trash can and saying how much he loves cookies!!

I remember having a beloved cookie monster stuffed toy that was my companion at every pretend tea party I created as a little child. Of course, cookies were always on the menu, and I always fed Cookie Monster first! 🙂
I love watching elmo – he is just adorable as he ever was.

I loved Sesame Street growing up and loved sitting with my littles to watch it. We loved Suffeluffagus and Big Bird!
I think my favorite character on Sesame Street was Snuffleupagus the stuffy nosed sounding mammoth elephant. I remember counting numbers with Count Dracula. Bert and Ernie being the Odd Couple of Sesame Street. My favorite memory was just the inter-mingling of adult humans and kids with Sesame Street characters – living in the neighborhood. I am 47 years old but I still remember watching Sesame Street when I was little. Keep on Sesame Street. We definitely need You.
One of my favorites from Sesame Street is when Miss Piggy is ordering at a hamburger drive through. She orders a humongous burger, with a pink balloon, and then sees herself in a clip and thinks she’s on a wide screen. She rushes and cancels her order and orders a salad with water…it was so cute!
I loved the music in Sesame Street when I was a kid.

I remember that numbers song/cartoon where the marble travels through different areas of a pinball machine and the song counts from 1 – 12. And now I have the song stuck in my head…! 🙂
I have soooo many memories from that show. One classic memory that stands out is when Ernie answers the question of phone, has a detailed where he’s really responding to the ebbs and flows of the input of the the other person….hangs up the phone… Bernie asks who it was. To which Ernie casually replies much to the confusion of Bert – oh they had the wrong number…. ?
My favorite Sesame Street memory is when I used to watch Big Bird with my great nieces in the mid-90’s.

Oscar the grouch….I remember when my brother and I were in a foul mood our Mom would call us Oscar the Grouch and we would immediately change our tune. We didn’t want to be associated with a monster living in a trash can.
I am 45 and still remember the characters and guests that would appear on each episode from my early youth.
My favorite memory is listening to my daughter reciting every word from Elmo in grouch land in the car when we went anywhere!
I always liked the Count and the “Count Song” he would sing. Oscar the Grouch was always funny too!

Hard to decide which favorite memory I cherish from Sesame Street… My favorite character is Grover among others (Zoe, Abby, and so on.) Super Grover is so hilarious! I better watch it with my lil’ boy this afternoon because it’s been a while due to busy holiday schedule. Oh, Maria is sorely missed :'(
I just remember my mom would let us watch it and only it and we loved it!
Awesome, it really looks like him 🙂
When I was small we lived in Japan and the only show in English was Sesame Street. My parents used to invite people over, yes adults, to watch the show.
