Morrocco Method Hair Care

I’m often asked what type of products I use in my hair, so I wanted to share what I’ve been using for the past month.

morrocco shampoo bottlesThe folks at Morrocco Method reached out to me a while back to see if I’d like to sample their all-natural hair care line, and after looking at the ingredients in their products, I was happy to try them out! They are by far one of the cleanest hair care companies around, with their raw, vegan shampoos containing no sodium lauryl sulfate, soy, gluten or GMOs. Plus, I can actually understand all the ingredients on the label! (They also receive a top rating on the EWG’s Skin Deep database.)

Unlike most shampoos, which lather and foam, shampoos that don’t contain sodium lauryl sulfate are low sudsing and non foaming, so they can take a bit of getting used to. If you’re looking for an “all natural” shampoo that smells and acts like the traditional shampoos you’re accustomed to, these may not be for you. I was surprised to see that the Morrocco Method shampoos look more like mud, with a grainy, exfoliating texture, so they can take some getting used to!

There’s definitely no doubt that this shampoo is all natural, and it actually reminds me of when I attempted to wash my hair with baking soda and apple cider vinegar–> only these shampoos are WAY more pleasant than that experience. (I recall getting apple cider vinegar in my nose and eyes… ouch.)

Not surprisingly, my favorite shampoo of their five options is the Apple Cider Vinegar shampoo! According to the company, this shampoo is formulated to increase the blood flow to the scalp, increasing the activity of the sebaceous glands to flush out debris, oil buildup, and unhealthy bacteria. While it doesn’t smell as perfume-like as other shampoos on the market, I found it left a pleasant apple cider scent to my hair!

I’ll admit, these shampoos are so natural that it took me quite a while to decide if I liked them or not. At first, my hair didn’t feel as “clean” as I’m used to and the conditioner didn’t leave my hair feeling as silky as traditional products on the market. But, over time, I’ve been pleased to see that my naturally fine and curly hair has less frizz and needs less conditioning overall. After a good shampooing, my hair feels nice and healthy, without the need for conditioner every time I wash.

Congrats on your new family member and thanks for the shampoo post–just made the switch permanently too, after an adjustment period. Silky strands well worth the period of doubt!

Beautiful hair

I want to share a very simple hair mask with olive oil. Spread 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil on my hair and comb your hair carefully. Wait for about 30 minutes, then use your hands to massage the hair gently for 1-2 minutes. Wash off with water. That’s all. I apply this 2 times per week.
