1. Have you heard of Jerry Seinfeld’s productivity secret? It’s surprisingly simple, but very effective.
If you happen to be daunted by a larger goal, you simply break it down into manageable chunks–> ideally, one task that you can work on daily. (i.e. flossing your teeth each day, taking 10 minutes to meditate, working on a hobby for 30 minutes, etc.) Once you’ve narrowed down your goals, all you have to do is hang a calendar on the wall, and use a big marker to cross off each day that you accomplish your task.
Once you’ve started a streak, you won’t want to break it!
Austin and I each started our own wall calendars yesterday, using our own systems. (Mine’s a little more straight-forward– using an Excel spreadsheet– and his is a bit more complicated using a post-it note system). Having our calendars on display over our desks seems like it will be extra-motivating!
2. The worst part about returning home after a long business trip?
I have no idea what Austin eats while I’m gone… and I don’t think I’ll ask.
3. It also means I have NO ripe avocados to enjoy yet.
But I’ve heard that storing bananas next to avocados makes them ripen faster.
Here’s hoping it works!
4. Whenever I do a workout DVD in the living room, Yasha figures that she must also “workout” by bringing ALL of her toys into my workout space.
She looks innocent, but one day she’s going to break my ankle. It’s a good thing I’m strengthening them with some Physique 57!
(It was recommended on the same must-read list.)
It’s a really interesting read so far, and with cases of Type 2 Diabetes and obesity rapidly increasing, I think sharing this kind of preventative information is essential. I’ve been taking notes, and will be sure to share some highlights when I’m finished!
I’m also tempted to download Good Calories, Bad Calories to my Kindle. Everything seems easier to read on the Kindle!
