Greek Salad Dressing is easy to make at home and tastes like it came from a restaurant! This vibrant vinaigrette will have you craving more salads and takes just minutes to prepare.
This homemade salad dressing is the perfect option to make as part of your meal prep routine. Serve it over a classic Greek salad or any leafy greens for a simple side salad. It can also be used as a marinade for baked chicken or tofu.
Just shake a few ingredients together in a mason jar, and it’s ready to use!
Ingredients You’ll Need
Classic Greek dressing is made with extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, and dried oregano. Depending on how much you love fresh garlic, you can mince one or two cloves into this recipe.
Adding freshly squeezed lemon juice to this recipe makes it taste like it came from a restaurant. If you don’t keep lemons on hand, just swap it for an extra tablespoon of red wine vinegar, instead.
Typically, other fresh herbs would be added to a Greek salad, like fresh dill or parsley. Feel free to add any extra flavors you love when using this dressing!
How to Make the Best Greek Salad Dressing
In an 8-ounce mason jar with a lid, combine the olive oil, vinegar, lemon juice, mustard, garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Use a microplane or garlic press to finely grate the garlic into the jar.
Secure the lid and shake well to combine. This method tends to work faster than using a spoon or whisk to emulsify the dressing.
Drizzle the dressing over any veggies you love. For a bowl of classic Greek salad, serve this dressing over chopped cucumbers, tomato, green bell pepper, red onion, kalamata olives, and feta cheese.
Add chickpeas or chicken for extra protein.
Leftover dressing can be stored in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. This dressing may thicken when chilled, so be sure to remove it from the fridge and let it rest at room temperature for up to 20 minutes before using it again.
It’s normal for dressing to separate when stored, so shake well before using it again.
Frequently Asked Questions

That is such a beautiful Greek salad! I think I’ll make one today:)
I love using apple cider vinegar to promote healthy digestion, but find it so hard to use in dressings as the taste is so overpowering. Can’t wait to try this one though. I love so many of your other dressings!
Greek / mediterranean food is my new favorite! Thanks for this awesome dressing!
I’ve been looking for a yummy Greek dressing! This is perfect! I ended up using regular apple cider vinegar. Turned out perfect! Thx so much!
The Greek salad looks yummy – loveee the taste of Bragg’s apple cider vinegar!
Must try this! Have made your Raw Apple Cider Viniagrette 3 or 4 times already and love it! I eat a salad for dinner every night and I use only that dressing. It is my favorite now, but I will give this a try. Love all your recipes!!!
I’ve been looking for a good recipe for Greek salad dressing, especially after having a great one at a restaurant during our road trip this summer. Thank you for posting this.
Love this (and so does my 3 year old)! Thank you!
Made this today. AWESOME! Like the best restaurant dressings that you wish you could get at home. Thank you AGAIN, Megan! You have changed the way our family eats! That’s one lucky baby!
I made this last night and it was delicious! Thank you so much. I LOVE your website!! I’m excited to try more recipes (I love smoothies).
Just made this and it was great! I added some dried basil, too. Thanks for sharing!
This is kind of a weird question, but how large are your salads usually? This looks like a small plate. Is that typical of what you would actually eat or is it just for the picture?
The way I see it, if the fork pictured is a salad fork, the plate is about 6.5 inches in diameter. If it’s a dinner fork, then the plate pictured is about 8 inches in diameter.
Made this dressing and to be honest I wasn’t sure at first. It did seem a little to oily and had quite a sharp taste. But once mixed with the salad it was absolutely gorgeous. Will definitely be making this again. Thank you
This dressing is amazing. I usually can’t stand acv in salad dressing, but this is phenomenal. I’m addicted!
Love this dressing!! So yummy! My husband raves about it!! Thank you!!
I use avocado oil instead of olive oil! Fabulous dressing! My personal fave is your apple cider vinagrette! Love you recipes!
I love the Greek salad dressing recipe. It is very close to authentic. However, a real Greek salad does not have lettuce. ( I am Greek) An authentic Greek salad is made with tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, slice green peppers, kalamata olives and feta cheese. You then top iit with oregano and salad dressing.
This is one of my favorite recipes! Thank you so much!
I just made this but did not have any apple cider vinegar so I used white vinegar. I hope I didn’t blow it!?
Hi. Just made this and it’s lovely. However, Im struggling to find anything to work out what calories this would be without signing up to sites. Can anyone help?

Made this yesterday. What a lovely full flavored dressing. Love it, i will be making this everytime i need Greek Salad dressing. Thank you.
Absolutely amazing. I am impressed. I love garlic and this is so perfect and not much of a vinegar flavor at all.
So Yummy! Best dressing EVER…and I’ve been making my own for 10+ years, thanks to friends that inspired me to bag the bottled crap. I’ve made this tons. It’s my go to 🙂
Amazing dressing! My new favourite! However after having it in my fridge for 4 days the consistency got really thick.. is this normal?
Yes, olive oil can do that in a dressing. If you leave it at room temperature or run the jar it under warm water it should thin out again.
Can you provide the carb and sugar count? Thanks!
My favorite
I use half avocado oil and half olive oil
Oh Awesome! I was wondering if I could use Avocado Oil instead of Olive Oil, I will give it try now 🙂
Love your recipes:) I’m watching fat intake and following Medical Medium. Do you have any low fat dressings to post? Thanks again, Be Well too 🙂
I’m working on a few low-fat dressings! I’ll post them when they are ready. 🙂
I believe this used to be Paleo Greek Dressing.and it called for 1/2 cup of oil and juice from 1/2 a lemon.
It is the best dressing. I use it all the time.
Im disappointed you dropped the Paleo off the name and changed the recipe a bit
Sorry to disappoint! I never used the word Paleo in the title– it was called “Classic” Greek Dressing before. The update reflects a more accurate measurement, as lemons vary SO MUCH in size. Juice from half a lemon isn’t very clear; it could be 1 tablespoon or 2 tablespoons, or even more, and I prefer to be more clear for my readers, especial for those new to cooking. I found the original to be too oily for my taste so I reduced the oil by 1 tablespoon– but you’re welcome to use the full 1/2 cup still, if you like!
I am a 61 year old diabetic and have been searching for recipes to lower my blood sugar I am so happy with this that I mix it in my warm Macha tea and Twinnings Chia tea in a litre drink bottle. The benefits of this is my sugar levels have reduced by half and no longer need insulin
Very tasty. I added more Olive oil and a pinch of sugar. So easy to make.
Another go to salad dressing, simple flavors that bring bold flavors to a basic green salad.
I love this recipe, everyone in my family eats it.
Absolutely delicious! Perfect!
Delicious perfect with the apple cider vinegar. Great for the Keto diet
This is a great go to that helps me get out of a salad rut! Simple, fresh, delicious
Made this and was yummy. I added a little sugar to it.
I’m in love with this. It’s perfect 💕
Delicious and so quick to put together. I don’t care for the added sugar in store bought dressings (even the “healthy” ones) so this dressing is my new go to. Thank you!
I made this exactly as instructed and served it as part of a Greek-themed dinner I hosted for some friends. It was absolutely fabulous and I’ve already sent a number of guests to the website to get the recipe.
I have made this several times! What a winner! Thank you for your great recipes!
It’s my go to dressing. Healthy and delicious.
Fantastic Recipe! Always our go to for Greek salads. Healthy and easy we triple the recipe for our family. Thanks for a great recipe!
This salad dressing is so good….just what I was looking for. Thank you for sharing.
May I omit the vinegar, using extra lemon juice in its place?
Yes, I think that would work, too!
First time making my own dressing. Could i sub out the olive oil for coconut oil? Would this make a huge difference with the taste?
Unless you’ve bought a coconut oil that stays in liquid form, it will most likely harden when you store this in the fridge. Any other liquid vegetable oil should work similarly, though.
